The store occupies the ground floor of a restored 1893 brick building in Pioneer Square, where exposed beams and original hardwood floors create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The poetry wing is one of the largest dedicated poetry spaces in the state, hosting weekly open mic nights that draw both established and emerging poets. The small press section is meticulously maintained, with staff traveling to book fairs across the country to discover new titles. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine level where rare first editions of Northwest authors are displayed in glass cases, and the in-store cafe serves coffee roasted by a local Capitol Hill roaster.
