Deep Vellum Books

Deep Vellum Books occupies a converted warehouse in Dallas's Deep Ellum neighborhood, the city's historic music and arts district, and functions as both a retail bookstore and the headquarters of Deep Vellum Publishing. Founded in 2013, the press and store have brought world literature to Texas with a catalog of translations from over forty languages, making it one of the most important literary translation projects in the United States. The raw concrete floors and exposed brick walls create an atmosphere that feels more like a Berlin gallery than a traditional bookshop, perfectly suited to its mission of introducing readers to voices they would never otherwise encounter. Author events here draw an eclectic crowd of academics, artists, and adventurous readers who pack the space for conversations with writers from Lagos, Seoul, and Buenos Aires. Deep Vellum has put Dallas on the international literary map in a way few could have imagined a decade ago.
